|Photovoltaic ( PV ) panels supplying electrical energy are getting more and more popular. The rules and regulations applying to the installation and connection of the PV panels to the grid in Toronto, Etobicoke, Mississauga and GTA are costly, complicated and time consuming. The Green Electrician prepared two small, solar projects, letting the first time PV panel users get hands on experience, with the greenest energy source around. Setting the project as OFF GRID small system will save plenty of paperwork required by the hydro utility, when interconnecting with the grid.
The first solar project prepared by The Green Electrician, is the power generation and supply for the electric lights in the garden OR the small garden pond fountain pump. The installed PV panel / charge controller / battery / inverter will keep 60 Watt lighting system OR the small .08 HP water pump running, for 6 hours day after day. When using LED bulbs an extensive outdoor lighting system powered by a 60 Watt input is possible.
The second solar project prepared by The Green Electrician, is the power generation and supply for the electric bicycle (eBike) battery charger. The installed PV panel / charge controller / battery / inverter will create self contained Solar eBike Charging Station, independent from the grid. The installation will provide power in the range of 200 to 400 Watt hours day after day. To estimate the eBike power demand do the calculation below for the battery installed on the eBike :
capacity in Amp hours (Ah) X nominal voltage (V) = power demand (Watt hours)
For multiple eBikes charging at the same time, a larger system may be needed and developed.
